Travis = Thank Goodness For Insurance, Even Bad Insurance
Today was a fun (stressful) Day. Around lunch time, Travis was playing with a long metal part of a flag pole. I know, you are wondering why is he playing with that? When your kids are being good, you don't get too involved. Anyway, as he walked around with it, at some point he must have put it in his mouth. With the pole being longer than he is, you can imagine what happened when he was walking and the other end got caught on the carpet. Yes, a lot of crying, blood, and Mom freaking out. After a few minutes of confusion, Katy called Julie to see if she could watch the other 2 kids while she took Travis to the Urgent Care. So, they took him right in, looked around and told her to go to the hospital because they can't stitch something like that up. The end of the pole had cut open the soft part of the top of his mouth. So off the the hospital. There the Dr. looks and says, well we usually send these kind of things home with some antibiotics, but I want an ENT to look at this, it is a little bigger than I am comfortable with. We told him who our ENT was. They called him. He asked us to drive over there for him to look at it. So off to place #3. He looked at it and agreed that it was very big, but they really don't like to put stitches in if they can avoid it at all. He says it can gag kids and make them feel like they have a hair stuck in the back of their mouth. So we got 2 different prescriptions, one with codeine for pain, for now and we have to go back tomorrow for him to check it again. The cut is about the size of a quarter if you cut it in half and looks pretty gross. Needless to say we are hoping that this will heal up on its own and not need any further attention.
