Kendra had the chance to participate in a fun run to encourage kids to be active and healthy. It was a great event and she had a great time. You could choose to do the 1/2 mile or full mile. She chose the 1/2 mile and I think she actually got a little nervous before the race started. There were no age groups, just medals and a goodie bag for everyone that finished. She did an awesome job. about 1/2 way around, she experienced a runners cramp and I assured her it would go away with slower deeper breathing. She did just that. Did it work? I don't know, but she didn't stop. Kendra finished toward the front of the group which was great for her. I am glad we didn't push for the full mile, but maybe in the future. There is going to be another one of these runs for kids in October where they get to wear their costumes. Great job Kendra, we are so proud of how hard you work when you want to.
Before the race, the kids got to run an obstacle course, even Travis and Trevor got a chance. Here is Travis trying his best at hitting each hula hoop.
Here is Kendra being held up by Dad to see the camera before the race.
Kendra is on the far left looking for her Dad who is running on the side of the course with her.
Kendra finishing the race without stopping once. Way to go!
Next week is the triathlon for kids at the swim center. Can't wait to see how she does at that.
