Triathlon

Ever since Kendra was 2 and watched her cousins do this triathlon, it is all she could talk about. Now that she is 4, she is finally old enough to do it herself. It is a fun event for the kids. Here she is showing of her number that they write on your arm. She was so proud of that number that when we got home and it washed off, she got so sad and asked us to put it back on.
Here is the swim to bike transition. This is where she runs out of the pool and get ready to ride her bike.
Here she is visualizing the race, okay maybe not, maybe just thinking about going to IHOP for brunch.
The swimming leg. They allow parents to be in the water with the non-swimmers. Kendra used a kick board and I helped to keep her balanced.
Transition time. This was fun. Kendra's shoes were only about 15 minutes old at this time. Before we got in the car at our house, she had taken her shoes off and forgot to put them back on. So, when we got the swim center, she didn't have shoes. Katy ran to the store and bought her some that were a little hard to put on, especially when her feet were wet. Dad also transitioned here and ran the bike part with her.
All smiles. It was so funny to watch her race. She smiled to whole time. Even one of the helpers that was telling the riders where to go said "go over here and keep smiling." I truly love that about Kendra. Whatever she is doing she is usually doing it with a smile.
There she goes! She took off so fast that Dad was even surprised. After swimming one leg of the short pool, riding her bike 4/10 of a mile, she then had to run 4/10 of a mile, almost a half mile. I thought there was no way she was going to be able to run the whole thing, but I was very wrong. She didn't stop one time.
Each person that participated got a medal and t-shirt. She is so proud about that medal and can't wait to do it again next year. What fun!
